THOROGOLD STABLES NEWSLETTER

March 2005

NEWSFLASH:

You probably have all noticed that we got the addition to the outdoor arena completed….it’s not as big as I was hoping but definitely has made an incredible difference.   Hope you all enjoy, I know I have!

OTHER IMPROVEMENTS:

o        Mic got most of the new lights up in the indoor arena and I think they have helped a great deal.

o        Outdoor lighting will be next on the agenda as well as a system for watering that we might be able to use for clinics.

o             We will be trying a product for dust control on a small portion of the outdoor arena…let me know what you think.

o            Atlas Bedding Pellets – we’re trying a demo stall using this product to see if it will work better than our present bedding…we’re using it in the box stall on the West side of the Main barn…take a look and see what you think.

Past activities:

WINKLES…You probably all know the star of our barn, has had a very hard fall and winter.  After trying to treat her eye (she poked a hole in it), she ended up bumping it and we had WSU remove it.  It has been doing great and the staples removed; however, she now has an abrasion that we are treating in the other eye.  She is such an awesome girl and has gone through a lot lately.  If you get a chance to give her a scratch and/or a carrot she would probably appreciate it.  Just make sure she can see and hear you so as not to scare her.  She turns 28 this month and has taught more kids than I care to count, how to ride and feel safe and secure……SHE IS ONE IN A MILLION!

Stubby, the yellow tabby cat has been very sick…we found out he had diabetes.  We weren’t sure how old he was and it would be almost impossible to give him two shots per day and so he has gone to better mouse hunting.

Most of you have probably met Peggy’s new horse, Jessi.  If you haven’t, stop and say hi to him.  I think he’s going to be an awesome addition to our schooling horses.  Also, we’ll be having a couple more ponies coming that have the potential of being used as schooling horse.  They belong to the Davenports’ and should be here mid-April.

We also have new to the barn, the Bentley’s and their cute paint…Defence.  I think it’s so funny that his name is Legal Defence and Kate’s parents are both in the legal profession.  Kate has been around for awhile taking lessons but her Mom recently was in the Basham clinic and so I can tell they are going to be eager learners and great horse owners.  Be sure to say hi to them.

This coming Fall, I’m thinking that the barn will once again be full.  Last fall I had a waiting list of over 10 people so, if any of you that are leaving at the end of the school year are thinking about wanting to come back, please let me know so that I will be able to save you a spot.  I’d also like to ask if you have any input or suggestions, so if you fill out this little survey and drop in the payment box….I would appreciate hearing from you.  Thanks so much for your time.  Also, to those leaving this Spring……we have enjoyed having you all here and I want to thank you kindly for how well you’ve all worked together and around the lesson programs.  David even went down to Lewiston with Theresa and Heather to check out the team penning and then Theresa has been asking David about Dressage tips.  I really love that about my barn….everyone works together and helps each other out.  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!

You can drop them off in the tack room in the little payment envelope-if you’d like to put your name (great), but you don’t need to.
